The Way I Think

 

“Put the records in that cooler we never use.”––Sometimes it can be a stroke of brilliance to figure out that you already have the perfect way to package something. The harder you look the further you are from seeing that cooler right there in front of you, the exact perfect size for a record. I think some of this stuff is like that, records in a cooler. Art that kinda looks like ads.

The hilariously eccentric and brilliant energy of Frank Zappa’s album art is also something I admire, and hope to one day emulate. And, as it turns out, Zappa happened to work in advertising before his music career took off. I guess he couldn’t quit…

This is some art from some guys (Raymond Pettibon left and Ralph Steadman right) whose work I think is inspiring for print ads. Aspiring to make print ads into brilliant art?––no. I just think they’re cool and different.
